Title: Another Large Group project.
Post by: Mad Russian on June 23, 2012, 11:31:45 pm
I think it's about time we start another large group project. I know we never actually finished the old (AGOA City), so that can be what we do if you guys want.

I want you all to post your ideas, and if you can maybe an image or two showing what you are imagining.

To get you guys thinking, here are some ideas.
-A viking town
-create an adventure map
-a speed run course (kind of like the adventure map idea but without a real story line)
-a large sort of jump course in a city (think assassins creed sort of place)
-a sleef Colosseum
-a pirate island/bay (and maybe have a couple pirate ships fighting with a couple British ships)
-the Minotaur labyrinth
-a sort of Hunger Games pvp arena/map
-chinatown?
-huge steampunk airship
-an underwater city
-a city in the sky (think floating islands)

We can also...
-finish AGOA city
-connect all our bases with roads, making outposts along the way.

I want all of you guys to post your own ideas here. I will eave here for one week (about, and that is when I get back from vacation). I will then put up another post where you guys can vote for your favorite ideas. So, all of you folks go post ideas! Now!

a floating city or an underwater city

I do like the floating city idea.

I started a little place like that. The floating islands with the wizard tower on it.
I actually think it looks really good at the moment. I should connect it to the nether system so people can visit it...

The underwater idea is a great idea, but it is actually a real pain to make. If you guys are up for it, sure, but fair warning.

Making tunnels were hard enough, but I am up for it.

underwater may be tough but it would look really cool and it is a challenge like a one up from agoa city

It should be a glass dome that is large, and branches right off the AGOA city. :P

thanks for the render update btw... man the wall I built looks good (c:

Is the plan to be 100% survival, or creative?

Hmmmm.. that's a good question. If we did it in survival, I think it would be more fun. Set up like 100 furnaces and we'll make some sand. Build the dome and go from there.... The only problem. is Air. ... We might have to do it in creative.

Underwater city... Creative for sure. People will get bored and quit if we did it in survival, it would take a very, very long time.

Now. When do we start?
Title: Re: Another Large Group project.
Post by: Mad Russian on July 04, 2012, 12:06:12 pm
Well, if everyone wants to do this as our project. I would suggest that we start tomorrow evening? (Since today is 4th of July, and people have things to do. I know I do.)

Can everyone get on at, lets say 8pm?

Also, I would like for us to have a sort of project leader. Someone that can take care of the problems along the way, make the final decision if needed, and just over-all lead the project. I know I have basically as summed that position at the moment, but I don't to just take it. I know that Greg probably does not want to be the guy, he just wants to build (Right?? God, I hope I'm not wrong, that would be embarrassing...). I would personally suggest Denovin, I think we would be great for the position. He is reliable, and I know that he will keep the project moving along.

One more thing, can I ask Denny, Greg, Brady, and Peter to get on a bit earlier if they can? These are the people that I usually see on more often, and also take on large projects, and Greg, we all love Greg (No offense to anyone else, these are just the folks off the top of my head. If you believe you are capable of one of these large builds, please do join us). Lets say, 7:30-7:45? I would like to have us decide on a general idea of what we want, where we want it, and how it is supposed to end up. What I'm trying to avoid if ending up with a bunch of people all trying to make different things, or having different ideas of what we want to end up with. That is what happened with our AGOA City Project.

So, please tell me what you guys think. Post who you think would best "lead" this project. Also, if you have any thoughts, concerns, ecs., please post that as well. Thanks guys! Now, lets build something amazing!

Ok, great!

I told Brady about this, I will wait for a response from him. But, Greg, can you make sure Peter knows?

Peter is unable to play during the weeks. He works graveyard at a warehouse.

He needs to work as a security guard for a gated community.  It worked great for me, and the 5K hours I put into Medievia working graves.

Are people just not interested in playing anymore? We have like 6 active players now, out of over 30 total. And no one seems to want to work on the new project. The only times people seem to get on (5 or more people on at once, where not even going to go into working together on something right now) is when I pent a couple days rallying up everyone...

Idk, do you guys not want to play anymore? What would it take to get you interested in the game, to play it?

Also, this is the 1000th post on the forum, and it's all mine! Woo!

Maybe if they focused on adding more content like they say they were going to.. it might get me back in.. but its been forever since they patched in.  We received our upsidedown stairs, but we dont have stone stairs, sideway stairs or half blocks.  There is so much more they could do with minecraft... but nothing has come out.

I know they need to update Minecraft, but it's like any other game, without regular updates, it dies. The reason some games have been able to stay alive are because of updates and achievements etc. Minecraft is  good game, but it's hard to keep building stuff without much of a story. It's fun for a while, but over time, it starts to die. I am taking a break. Well. From everything. I haven't had any time. LIKE NO TIME. I GOT ON A HELPED FOR LIKE TEN MINUTES but then I had to get off.

1.3 is coming out in a week.

There are also quite a few things in 1.2.5 that I have yet to see people take advantage of... maybe we should get people to read over the patch notes?  There is SO much stuff going on in 1.3! (http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Upcoming_features)
