Unifi with Ubuntu 12.04
« on: May 25, 2012, 11:42:07 pm »
This guide has been depreciated with the newer releases of Unifi. Please visit http://community.ubnt.com/t5/UniFi/bd-p/UniFi for the latest releases and ubuntu setup.

I have three Unifi AP's at my house, and I recently upgraded my controller to Ubuntu 12.04. If you are planning on doing it, I'll post all the steps here. The links for all my data was found Here Here and Here

Note: That this may not be the most recent update, so check before you install

Install the base system of 12.04.
Code: [Select]
sudo su
apt-get update
apt-get upgrade

Now onto the real crap.

We're going to install Mangodb or whatever the heck it's called...
Code: [Select]
sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv 7F0CEB10
Code: [Select]
pico /etc/apt/source.listAdd this line to the bottom of the document
Code: [Select]
deb http://downloads-distro.mongodb.org/repo/ubuntu-upstart dist 10gen
Then add this line

Code: [Select]
sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv 7F0CEB10
Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install mongodb-10gen

Okay, cool. You've installed monogobddddddd. Now we move onto installing unifi

Code: [Select]
pico /etc/apt/source.listAt the bottom of the document add this line
Code: [Select]
deb http://www.ubnt.com/downloads/unifi/distros/deb/natty natty ubiquiti
Code: [Select]
sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv C0A52C50
Code: [Select]
apt-get update
apt-get install unifi

Now if you tried to start the service, it would not work.
If it was right, there is some java error. So to fix it you need to do this.

Code: [Select]
pico /etc/init.d/unifi
find the line that says
Code: [Select]
JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk-i386
change it to this

Code: [Select]
JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk-i386
save the document and start the service

Code: [Select]
/etc/init.d/unifi start
BAM! it should work.
